Stouffville Glass has successfully provided services through the design assist and design build process by working with architects and owners building from basic ideas that get developed through multiple stages. Having in depth industry knowledge of systems and capabilities it is not very difficult for our team to envision what the project is going to look like. When required to realize the end result computer modeling of key areas is available with the ability to prepare walkthrough design presentations for customer review and comfort knowing that we know what they are looking for.
Stouffville Glass has adopted 3D BIM technology since 2009 and has been pushing forward using this technology and is currently drawing all our shop drawings and fabrication drawings in 3D. Our team is very aggressive on improving the work flow at the shop drawing stage as this sets the precedence for the remainder of the project. Communicating with architects when using this type of technology assists in design coordination issues before they are realized at the site. We are now able to measure our projects using specialized 3D lasers which capture our site dimensions and place them right into our drawing environment from which we continue to overlay our frame. We are then able to extract cut lists, glass sizes, flashings and CNC ready frame fabrication drawings with a few clicks of a button. This allows us to focus on the input knowing that human error has been removed from the tedious task of the breakdown process normally which is normally an area for error in our industry.
